I love clothes… they are my second skin! What I choose to wear each day is usually dictated by my mood. There are those days when my mood says “put on the fleece pants and a t-shirt because we are not leaving the house!” This is not a bad day moment, it just means that I am in a creative mode so I turn on the sewing machine and see where my mood takes me! Sometimes I find I need a little help to get the creative juices flowing and that’s when I start surfing the internet, looking at designer ideas. I enter this world with caution however, because I am looking for inspiration, not things to copy. Don’t misunderstand me, I really enjoy making a copy cat dress; one that catches my eyes due to the color, style and details.
For example…”Mad Men” inspires the retro look.

My “Joanie” dresses, as one of my sons so eloquently puts it!
So – while I look to the inspiration of designers, I feel a great sense of accomplishment when I can come up with my own ideas. It is designer ideas though that have a big influence on what we are going to see on the racks in the shops, stores and boutiques each season so I find it fascinating to watch what they do.
The fall Paris Spring 2013 Ready-to-Wear Fashion Show was held September 26, 2012 and went through October 3, 2012. There are some wonderful web sites dedicated to presenting beautiful photos of these events that include this site

but I thought it would be fun to share some of my favorites here with you. I will not likely ever own any of these designer’s apparel, but I’m not gonna say never because never is a fallacy right? Just go with it – I’m not gonna stop dreaming! 🙂
So check this out.
I have never seen denim styled this way. Pencil skirt and dress coat of sorts? Miu-Miu Prada, you got my attention!

Not sure about wearing this but to my eyes, it is art and very mesmerizing. Alexander McQueen is the designer.

Another Alexander McQueen. While I don’t see myself wearing this either, there is something about it that really grabs me. I have a penchant for Elizabethan and Tudor period clothing and this certainly screams that.

This jacket seems like a cross between a bolero and a more traditional look. Not sure about the bustier or shorty-short top but I certainly see possibilities in this cute little number by Balenciaga.

I am thinking a little bit of country girl here and I love it! The coat has the appearance of a duster And those cuffs! I want to make one of these (uh oh – a copy cat moment). All the pieces compliment one another beautifully. Balmain…I tip my hat to you.

This is a Chanel so its a must to present. At first I wasn’t sure what I thought, but the more I look at it, ideas seem to grow in my mind. It definitely has a simplicity about it, and the neckline seems to me to be a boat neck which is one of my favorites. The strappy shoes without a doubt win my vote.

More Chanel simplicity and more of those strappy platform shoes.

I really like this. It is so sassy and fun. The designer is Chloe.

I see casual chic here. Very feminine with a little sporty and a lot of comfortable. Also a Chloe design.

I see this coming to juniors departments real soon. Some have labeled this Dries van Noten as sort of a grunge, but I think it looks far better than the sound of that stupid word!

They say this is a day look but I see it as a hip day and evening look . It is from the Giambattista Valli collection.

A dress over trousers and I would consider wearing it, especially if it had two arms since it is generally a bit chilly in the Pacific Northwest. I really like the all-white look, but I could only wear this at none wine drinking events! Designed by Givenchy.

I would wear this in a heart beat! Very evening, but oh so laid-back. Isabel Marant is the designer.

I am thinking Matador chic! I would wear it…and the shoes! Designer is Lanvin.

Another Lanvin that is so sophisticated and elegant. I would wear it wine tasting! ooh La La!

Lanvin again, ruched this time. I would be caught dead in it!

Brewing frills or maybe witchy bohemian? I Love the hat! Designed by Saint Laurent

The flounced scalloped sleeves was the first thing I saw, and then the timeless style of the overall dress. It is simple, very feminine and lovely. Designer is Valentino.

Okay! So there it is, my winners for the fall Paris Spring 2013 Ready-to-Wear Fashion Show. However we still need to consider one more thing. Something very important. Shoes of course! And the Spring Fashion Show had those too, but by my account the winner is…Celine, who is not only a designer for clothes, but for shoes!
So check these out!
Will it be red fluffy pumps…
or yellow fluffy pumps?
Not sure what I think yet. I guess I would have to try them on and walk about for a bit before I say no. I love furry slippers, so just maybe….
Oh yes…and don’t miss the fall Paris Fashion Week beginning February 26, 2013 and running through March 6, 2013.
